Expeditions

Upcoming Expeditions
The NOAA Ship Okeanos Explorer will continue to explore the offshore regions of the western United States during field trials while getting ready for the inaugural season.  The present plan has the ship exploring the Central and Western Pacific regions in late 2009 and early 2010.

The E/V Nautilus will be working in the Mediterranean and Black Seas during late summer, 2009, as part of the Institute for Exploration and URI Institute for Archaeological Oceanography programs’ field season – primarily exploring ancient history in the deep sea off the coasts of Turkey and Ukraine.

Current Expeditions
The NOAA Ship Okeanos Explorer is presently undergoing field trials in preparation for her inaugural field season.  Through NOAA’s Office of Ocean Exploration and Research and NOAA’s Office of Marine and Aviation Operations, all the ship’s technical and scientific systems will be tested and prepared for upcoming expeditions in the Pacific Ocean.
